Average time spent on actitivites by all people in the UK aged 8 and over
On average people sleep an extra 43 minutes on a weekend day compared to a week day. Employment makes up less than an hour on a weekend day compared to an average of 3 hour and 15 minutes on a week day. At the weekend this time is mainly taken up by more housework, TV watching, social life and sport.

On average females sleep a little longer than males. Males are in paid employment for 1 hour 17 minutes longer than females while females spend over an hour and a half longer than males on housework. Males watch more TV and take part in more sport than females do, whilst females spend longer on personal care and social life than males.

On average children (8-15 year olds) spend nearly 4 hours a day on study and over 2 hours a day on sporting activities. The majority of housework is done by adults (16 and over) although children do contribute an average of just over 45 minutes a day. Adults sleep for 1 hour 40 minutes less than children on average.
