As the age of the children in the household increases the amount of time spent on childcare by both females and males decreases. For all ages of children on average males spend less than half the time on childcare of females. It should be noted that only childcare recorded as a primary activity is included here. Most housework by both females and males is done when the youngest person in the household is aged 5-9 years. Housework only really decreases when the children reach 16-17 where for females it falls by 44 minutes compared to having a 10-15 year old in the house.
All Work - For adults in paid work (full time or part time) when employment, study, housework and voluntary work are combined on average males and females spend almost exactly the same amount of time on this total work, just under 7 hours and 50 minutes per day.
