The Scottish Office Development Department compiles data on the basis of metered and unmetered water charges and sewerage charges for the forthcoming financial year.

This return from Regional authorities gives information on budgets and projected income from various sources (direct charges, Council Tax, council water charge, etc.), showing how the charges set for the forthcoming financial year were derived.

Information is provided by Region and island area. From 1996, water and sewerage will be the responsibility of three new Water Boards (non-departmental public bodies), and the information to be supplied by these has yet to be determined.
