The Scottish Office Home Department conducts annual surveys on care homes in Scotland:

The Residential Care Home Survey collects data on elderly, physically and mentally handicapped, and mentally ill people in local authority and private homes; including numbers of homes, beds, residents and staff, length of stay and handicap of resident.

Data are also collected on income and expenditure on tasks relating to the registration and inspection of residential homes and day-care centres for both adults and children.

Data are available on request for the last two years.
