The Scottish Executive Justice Department collects data from the police and courts on the outcome of criminal proceedings in Scottish courts. Data are available on the number of persons proceeded against by main crime or offence, the type of court proceedings, age and sex of offender, type of sentence and length of sentence.
Data cover Scotland and are available at police force area and court level.
Aggregate information is available from the early part of the 20th century. Disaggregated information is available for all years after 1969.
Data are collected monthly and results are published around November following the calendar year end.
