Provides information for the national accounts and economists. Within ONS the survey is used in the compilation of the input-output tables. It is also used to calculate weights for combining appropriate producer price indices for deflating the quarterly capital expenditure survey results and the capital expenditure component of the final economy price index.
Although the survey is small, based on a sample of 2,500 businesses on the Inter-Departmental Business Register, it covers most industries across the whole economy.
