		Infant mortality by ethnic group, England and Wales Product   These tables include the following data relating to live births occurring in England and Wales in 2005: 1) live births, infant deaths, and infant mortality rates by ethnic group 2) infant deaths, and infant mortality rates by cause of death and ethnic group These tables use the ethnic group information included in the birth data provided to ONS by the Central Issuing System that issues NHS numbers to babies born in England, Wales and Isle of Man. It has not been possible to publish infant mortality rates by ethnic group in the past, as birth statistics routinely produced by ONS are based on information collected at birth registration and ethnic group is not recorded at birth registration.
