Health expectancies at birth for the 2001 Census wards in England and Wales (experimental)
Product
Healthy life expectancy and disability-free life expectancy at birth have been calculated for wards in England and Wales. These are based on life expectancy data for wards (experimental statistics), 1999-2003, and the 2001 Census health rates for 'good/ fairly good health' and 'no limiting long-term illness'. For persons, results are available for all wards and for males and females where sex-specific ward-level populations were large enough to allow the calculation of sufficiently robust results.
The full details of the methodology and the data sources used are described in a report accompanying these results. For comparison purposes, results for Local Authorities (LAs) and Government Office Regions (GORs) are also included.
