Provides a picture of survey activity across the government statistical service (GSS). This enables users and data providers to judge the effectiveness of government efforts to minimise the compliance burden whilst maintaining a system of reliable and accurate economic and business statistics.
The report covers all regular surveys to businesses and local authorities, together with ad hoc surveys for which fieldwork began in that year. It explains the purpose of the main surveys, what the benefits are and how much of a burden in monetary terms falls on businesses and local authorities in complying with the Government's requests for data. It also summarises current programmes of work designed to reduce those burdens as far as possible.
