In 2001, the mean number of persons per room was 0.46. Five percent of households had higher occupancy rates of 1 or more people per room. Higher occupancy rates were more likely among social sector households (8%) and private rented households (7%) compared with 3% of owner occupied households. Overall, 2% of households were below the bedroom standard (see Appendix A). This figure was lowest among owner occupiers (1%) with 4% of social sector tenants and 3% of private renters living in accommodation below the bedroom standard.
