Questions about difficulties with mobility and the possession of mobility aids were first asked on the GHS in 1993 and were repeated in 1996. The aim was to provide estimates of the proportion of people who need aids to get about, and also the proportion of aids that people have but do not use. The results are presented in Chapter 10.
