1 INTRODUCTION
 
  Content of the report  
 

    The report is based on the data collected by the GHS in 2001/2 and provides information across a wide range of topics. Also included are a number of tables presenting data on trends and changes measured by the GHS since it began.

    The main analysis is presented in Chapters 2-10.

  • Chapter 2 presents an overview of change
  • Chapters 3 to 10 cover information relating to the different topics included in the GHS

    Technical information is provided in the appendices. These include:

  • a glossary of definitions and terms used throughout the report and notes on how these have changed over time (A)
  • information about the sample design and response (B)
  • sampling errors (C)
  • weighting and grossing (D)
  • a description of the changes to social classifications (E)
  • the household and individual questionnaires used in 2001, excluding self-completion forms and prompt cards (F)
  • a list of the main topics covered by the survey since 1971 (G).
