The GHS has asked a question on self-perception of health since 1977. An identical question was included on the 2001 Census of Population for the first time. In 2000, the GHS found that 59% of adults said that they had good health, 27% reported fairly good health and 13% said their health was not good. The GHS data show no obvious trend over time. For the first time, this question was also asked about children in the household; 81% were reported by their parent or guardians as having good health, 15% were reported as having fairly good health and for 3% it was reported that their health was not good (table not shown). |
