Capital Stock and Services: ICT in the Economy |
| Abstract |
Capital Services Joint work between the Bank of England and ONS has progressed on the issues surrounding the measurement of ICT capital. The primary focus has been correctly classifying the investment by businesses between the different types of assets, such as computers, and then correctly quantifying the impact of the ICT goods and services on the production of output. This presentation indicates some of the results of such an analysis. It starts by discussing the methodology employed in calculating the volume index of capital services then gives results of analysing the growth of industries in terms of the capital and labour inputs in each industry. This shows the penetration of ICT investment in industries. |
