Title of paper Information Society Statistics in the Czech Republic
Abstract

This paper has been designed to give an overview of the ISS measurement at the Czech statistical Office and its development and to present some available basic features of the information society in the Czech Republic. The paper is organized in two parts.

Part I begins by a framework for the measurement of Information Society Statistics at the Czech Statistical Office and continues with the description of our specific statistics' activities in this field and their development. Principally, we focused hereafter on the description of our pilot programs for measuring ICT usage and e-commerce in the principal sectors (households, enterprises and government).

Part II contains firstly a statistical profile of the ICT producing sector together with ICT value market in the Czech Republic. Secondly, we examine individual ICTs, notably the PCs, mobile phones and mainly Internet, and analyze their penetration into all principal sectors when possible. Basing us on several international reliable statistical sources (OECD, Eurostat, ITU, UN and some private companies documents), every time ICT penetration in the Czech Republic is compared with other Candidate Countries' but always taking into account the average EU-15 numbers.
