Summary: Presents data on live birth registrations in England and Wales by parental characteristics. This package contains age-specific fertility rates for men, the mean age of father, and paternities within/outside marriage. See Characteristics of Mother 1 and 2 for birth statistics by age of mother, type of registration (within marriage, joint, sole) and number of previous liveborn children.

Summary: Presents data on birth registrations in England and Wales by National Statistics Socio-economic Classification (NS-SEC) of father as defined by occupation.

Summary: Marital status population estimates are based on the 2001 Census and take account of subsequent births, deaths, marriages, divorces and net migration. They have been amended for estimation purposes to show all under 16's as single.

The methodology used to produce the LSOA and MSOA estimates differs to the method used to produce the local authority mid-year estimates, and is subject to further development. In view of this ongoing work, these LSOA and MSOA estimates are published as 'experimental statistics', and are under evaluation. Feedback on these estimates is therefore welcomed.
