This section brings together the estimates of the value of the output of household production. Inputs such as market-produced goods and services, the contribution of household capital, and household production of housing, transport and meals, are deducted, where appropriate, to give an estimate of the value added by households in the production process.
All the estimates are experimental, and should be interpreted cautiously, bearing in mind their sensitivity to the assumptions used. Feedback is most welcome at any time.
Please let us know by 31st May 2002 if you are planning to comment on the methodology by e-mailing hhsa@ons.gov.uk.
Value data gives the estimates for the year 2000 of output, gross value added and net value added for household production of housing, transport, nutrition, clothing & laundry services, childcare, adult care and voluntary activity. Also shown are the adjustments to GDP to give gross market product, which can then be combined with the HHSA estimates (or gross household product) to give gross economic product.
Go to the downloads page for the relevant chapter of the methodology paper (in pdf format), which details the assumptions used to compile the estimates.
Analysis looks at the relationships between output and inputs in the account.
