ONS Geography is leading National Statistics in a number of initiatives that aim to minimise the problems caused by the UK's complicated and ever-changing geography:

• National Statistics Geography Group (NSGG) coordinates
  cross-governmental geographic issues.
• ONS Geography Advisory Group (GAG) is an independent
  'think-tank' established to support the development of the National Statistics Geography Strategy.
• Geographic Referencing Infrastructure (GRI) provides ONS with all the geographic information and tools it needs to produce
  world-class statistics.
• United Kingdom Standard Geographic Base (UKSGB) encourages the use of standard geographic units.
• Gridlink® is a coordinated cross-organisational approach to the creation of postcode location products.
• GIgateway helps users locate UK geographic information resources. It includes a postcode to area search facility. GIgateway is a not-for-profit organisation run by the Association for Geographic Information.
