Area measurements

I'd like to get area figures for all the local authorities in the UK. Where do I look?

UK Standard Area Measurements (SAM) are now available as downloadable Excel spreadsheets for a variety of administrative areas.

Here are some statistics, taken from 2004 SAM (extent of the realm figures):

The largest anywhere in the UK is Highland (Scotland), at 2648413.49HA.
The largest in England is East Riding of Yorkshire, at 249672.68HA.
The largest in Wales is Powys, at 519615.09HA.
The largest in Northern Ireland is Fermanagh, at 187581.69HA.

Which is the smallest local authority in the UK?

The smallest anywhere in the UK is the City of London, at 315.28HA.
The smallest in Scotland is Dundee City, at 6226.22HA.
The smallest in Wales is Blaenau Gwent, at 10876.16HA.
The smallest in Northern Ireland is North Down, at 8149.4HA.
