Bulletin 2007/02: Standard Names and Codes (SNAC) 2006: Database Release

ONS Geography has just released the Standard Names and Codes (SNAC) 2006 database. The database provides names and codes, including Communities and Local Government and Department of Health equivalents where applicable, for a range of UK statistical geographies (as at 31/12/2006) in the following groups:

Administrative areas
Census areas (including Output Areas and Super Output Areas)
Electoral areas
Health areas
Other geographic areas (including NUTS areas, Registration Districts, National Parks and Travel To Work Areas)

A full listing of geographies covered is provided in the User Guide.

SNAC 2006 is available for download as an MS Access 2002 file or as an MS Excel flat file. The flat file provides information in a simple list format, suitable for those who do not require the interactivity of the MS Access version. (NB. SNAC 2006 is available in earlier versions of MS Access (97 or 2000) on request).
