    John Pullinger, Office for National Statistics

    Professor J Gershuny, Director of the Institute for Social & Economic Research, Essex University
    Jonathan Gershuny is Professor of Sociology and Director of the Institute for Social and Economic Research (ISER) at Essex University. His research interests include the analysis of narrative datasets (life and work histories, time use diaries). He has published extensively on time use and other research areas.

    Dr Patrick Sturgis, University of Surrey
    Patrick Sturgis is a lecturer in Sociology at the University of Surrey. Prior to completing his PhD in Psychology at the London School of Economics, Patrick worked in the Survey Methods Centre at the National Centre for Social Research. His research interests are in public opinion, electoral behaviour and survey methodology, including the design and analysis of time use surveys.

    Richard Williams, Labour Market Division, Office for National Statistics
    Richard Williams works in the Labour Market Division at ONS. His interest in the time use survey was from the perspective of an 'hours analyst'. Although his recent focus has changed to analysing labour demand issues, time use data still provides him with useful insights into the supply-side behaviour of employees.

    Claire Hood, Social Analysis & Reporting Division, Office for National Statistics
    Claire Hood works in the Socio-Economic Inequalities Branch at ONS. Her interest in time use is the way it provides a new way of analysing time spent socially participating in the community. Claire's other work interests include compiling an information worksheet on longitudinal and time series data sources on social capital.

    Muriel Egerton, ISER, Essex University
    Muriel Egerton did a DPhil in Psychology at Oxford University and has worked at Oxford, Manchester and London universities before going to ISER at Essex University in 2000. Muriel has published work on education and civic engagement, most recently using Time Use data. She is currently working on American time use data.

    Sandra Short, Social & Vital Statistics Division, Office for National Statistics
    Sandra Short manages the ONS'sTime Use Survey. Her role is to promote time use data and this involves liaising within government and with leading time use experts in the UK and internationally. Sandra was previously a member of the team which developed the household satellite account for ONS.

    Dale Southerton, ESRC Centre for Research on Innovation & Competition, University of Manchester
    Dale Southerton is a Research Fellow at the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) Centre for Research on Innovation and Competition at the University of Manchester. Dale specialises in the study of consumption and his key research interests are theories of consumption, social change, innovation, sustainability, time and space and social networks.

    Wendy Olsen, University of Manchester
    Wendy Olsen has a doctorate in economics from the University of Oxford and teaches sociology and social research methods at the University if Manchester. Her research interests include comparisons across countries, labour relations as they link up with gendered roles and subjective viewpoints about social institutions.

    Dorothy Salathiel, Department for Transport
    Dorothy is a statistician in the Department for Transport and responsible for the National Travel Survey. This is a continuous household survey and the main source of data on how, why, where and when people travel in GB. Her team deal with all aspects of the survey, apart from fieldwork and coding. Previously she has worked on environmental statistics, land use and other areas covered by the former Department of the Environment.
