Time Use Seminar: Analysis and use of the UK 2000 Time Use Survey (TUS)

How do people in the UK spend their time?
22 June 2004, Cass Business School, 106 Bunhill Row, London, EC1Y 8TZ
Time use data looks at how people spend their time, what they are doing for each 10 minutes of the day, where they are and who they are with. This information can be linked to a range of demographic information.
The first official survey of its kind in the UK, the UK 2000 TUS was in the field from June 2000 to September 2001 and the data was launched in April 2002. Since then a range of analysis in various areas has been ongoing.
The Time Use survey is a cross-government initiative, combining the specialisms of Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC), Office for National Statistics (ONS), Department for Culture Media and Sport (DCMS), Department of Health (DH), Department for Education and Skills (DfES) and Department for Transport(DfT).
With speakers from each government department as well as leading academics, this seminar will provide policy makers, academics and others an insight into the many ways in which Time Use data may be used.
This event was hosted by the ONS and the other co-funders of the survey and forms part of the ESRC social science week (21-25 June).
