The Postcode headcounts (V2.2) CD contains summary results - counts of all people, males, and females, and the number of households with one or more residents - from the 2001 Census for unit postcodes in England and Wales. The postcodes contained on the CD are those as at Census Day. The residential postcodes included are thus those used in the creation of Output Areas.
In addition, Census Day workplace-only postcodes are included for reference (these will, by definition, have person and household counts of zero). Where postcodes have been split across Output Areas, separate records are provided for each part of the postcode.

A CD containing the dataset in four formats - TXT, CSV, DBF and MDB. In each format, the dataset has been split into four files to make manipulation easier, but these files can be combined to reform one dataset. The CD is available on request, usually free of charge, from Census Customer Services using the ordering information box to the top right of this page.
