The main purposes of the 2001 Census Evaluation are to:

• inform users of issues surrounding data collection and processing to assist them in interpreting data;
• address the need for public accountability;
• signpost the potential for change in planning towards 2011;
• learn and inform in the wider ONS context.

In order to further the first aim of assisting users in interpreting the census results, the following links provide information on:

- the One Number Census (ONC) methodology, including the ONC Guide, Quality Assurance
  methods and the ONC Steering Committee; and

- the CCS sample sizes and response rates, Dependency adjustment methodology
  and the ONC Quality Assurance themes and charts.

The full evaluation report will be produced later in the year.
