Customised output may be commissioned from ONS where requirements are not met by standard results in Reports or Local Statistics.
Charges will be made to recover staff and material costs for the production and supply of output not otherwise available. Consortia commissions and cost sharing are encouraged.
ONS promotes equality of access to its statistics. In practice this means that, once a table has been delivered and paid for by a customer, it will be listed on the ONS website and become available to all users free of charge on request from Census Customer Services. Some tables may be available online.
Further information about charges for commissioned output, and previously commssioned tables that are already available, can be found using the links to other and supporting information.
Confidentiality
All requests are subject to checks to ensure that the confidentiality of Census information would not be breached, and data protection measures are applied. These checks cover the geographic level and statistical categories/classifications requested, average cell values, and comparison with previously released data. Where tables cannot be released, alternative specifications will be discussed with the customer. Users are encouraged to specify standard output classifications (chapter 6 in the Census 2001: Definitions volume) to minimise cost and development time.
A click-use or distribution licence is required for re-use or publication. More information on this is available in the conditions of supply for commissioned output or by contacting census.licensing@ons.gov.uk.
