All SuperTABLE DVDs, each containing CAS for a specific Government Office Region as well as CAS for wards and higher areas throughout England and Wales, were despatched by 11 September 2003.
Each Government Office Region DVD in CSV format was accompanied, if required, by a second DVD with the CAS for wards and higher areas throughout England and Wales. Orders for CAS for England and Wales were despatched when the set of DVDs was complete, unless the confirmation of order requested supply region by region.
CAS may still be ordered from Census Customer Services, but there is no need to order CAS direct from ONS if supply has been arranged through an intermediary organisation.
Unconfirmed orders
There are a number of outstanding orders for CAS where customers have not yet responded to e-mails requesting confirmation of the 'regional' DVD(s) required, and no CAS have been supplied. In such circumstances, the region(s) required should be confirmed to Census Customer Services.
CAS On-line
Key Statistics which summarise the information in the CAS are available through Neighbourhood Statistics. CAS tables which count single variables, often with quite detailed categories and known as 'univariate' tables, will also be available on-line through Neighbourhood Statistics shortly. There will be a further announcement and link in Census News.
Release of further CAS tables
The production and checking of 19 CAS tables*, all but four covering workplace or migration, was not completed in time for release from 28 August. The workplace tables are also subject to a review of disclosure risks. It was announced on 17 December as part of the revised output schedule that the date for the release of the remaining CAS tables is 'to be announced'.
Copies of CAS supplied from 28 August did not include the 19 tables, but all orders met so far will be supplemented by a single DVD containing the further CAS tables. Customers need not place further orders, and the DVDs will be matched to the format(s) of previous orders.
This is a change to the previously announced plan to resupply complete copies, but the supplementary DVDs will normally be supplied without charge. There will, however, be a charge of £55 + VAT to cover the material cost of supply of a complete set of DVDs in a second format to any one customer.
