Information about the release of CAS from 28 August, access to them, and ordering copies was issued previously in Census News HERE. Additional information about access to CAS online and arrangements for supplying copies to customers is now available.
CAS Online
Key Statistics which summarise the information in the CAS are available through Neighbourhood Statistics. CAS tables which count single variables, often with quite detailed categories and known as 'univariate' tables, will also be available on-line through Neighbourhood Statistics shortly. There will be a further announcement and link in Census News.
Supply of CAS Confirming orders
Customers who have ordered CAS have recently been sent more details of arrangements for supply, and have been asked to confirm the orders. There is no need to order CAS direct from ONS if supply has been arranged through an intermediary organisation.
Where an order is for an area which lies within an English Government Office Region or Wales, CAS in SuperTABLE format will be supplied on a DVD including all Output Areas in the region and all wards and higher areas in England and Wales, while CAS in CSV format will be supplied on a DVD including all Output Areas in the region, with CAS for all wards and higher areas in England and Wales on a second, separate DVD.
Sets of the complete CAS for England and Wales or for more than one region will also be supplied on DVDs in both formats. Material costs will be recovered through a charge where any organisation orders more than one complete set or multiple copies of DVDs.
Order of release
The CAS are becoming available from 28 August region by region.
All SuperTABLE DVDs, each containing CAS for a specific Government Office Region as well as CAS for wards and higher areas throughout England and Wales, were despatched by 11 September 2003.
Each Government Office Region DVD in CSV format will be accompanied, if required, by a second DVD with the CAS for wards and higher areas throughout England and Wales. Orders for CAS for England and Wales will be despatched when the set of DVDs is complete, unless the confirmation of order requests supply region by region.
