Key Statistics for health areas in England and Wales
The 2001 Census report Key Statistics for health areas in England and Wales was released on 31 July 2003. It provides the first Census picture of these recently reorganised areas - consistent and comparable facts about the characteristics of the populations served in each area, and figures which underpin information collected in the Health Service itself.
The results are available through Neighbourhood Statistics and on CD. The health areas for which the results are presented are Strategic Health Authorities and Primary Care Trusts in England and Local Health Boards in Wales as at 31 December 2002. The CD also includes Key Statistics for wards as at 31 December 2002, and these are also available through Neighbourhood Statistics.
ONS regret that some errors in the geographical constitutions used to produce the Key Statistics for health areas were found after the publication of the report. Key customers in the health service are being contacted, and ONS has released a list of the areas affected and information about the issue of corrected figures [more details...]
