The Theme Tables released previously as part of the Census Area Statistics (CAS) and Standard Tables, now accompany other detailed Census results available, without charge, as part of the Nomis service.
The full 2001 Census Standard Tables for local authorities and wards are now available on-line with the addition of the Theme Tables (T01 to T53) to those (ST001 to ST161) that were already available on Nomis, and with the addition of tables specifically for Wales. The full Census Area Statistics (CAS) tables are also available on Nomis, with the addition of CAS Theme Tables (CAST001 to CAST117). Since May 2005 Nomis has also provided Census Area Statistics (CAS) for parliamentary constituencies in England and Wales, first released on CD in 2004. An introductory description of Standard Tables and CAS is HERE.
The Nomis service supplements Neighbourhood Statistics - that provides summary Key Statistics and univariate counts for these and other areas - by providing detailed cross-tabulations that show inter relationships between many characteristics of the population. Those who are familiar with Nomis may prefer to go direct to the Census content, and select tables and geography. A newcomer to the Nomis service will find an introduction HERE. The service offers the choice either to download whole tables or to select and download single counts or extracts from tables. There is an option to register, and 'wizards' that provide step by step guides to use. Users can click to explanatory information throughout the service, and further assistance is available from the Nomis helpdesk and from Census Customer Services.
