The Origin-Destination matrices for local authorities were released on 21 October 2004. The matrices add further detail to the matrices for Output Areas and wards already available. They show flows of migration and travel to work (or study for residents in Scotland) between individual local authorities (parliamentary constituencies in Northern Ireland) throughout the UK. Matrices for 'moving groups' will be released later in 2004.
More information on the Origin-Destination matrices, including links to the table layouts and advice on the statistical variability of the results, is available HERE.
A CD containing the results in CSV format is available, usually free of charge, from Census Customer Services who can also provide extracts of travel to work flows to and from individual local authorities. Recipients of the Origin-Destination matrices for wards will be sent the local authority matrices as standard.
