The General Report on the 2001 Census in Wales was released on the National Statistics website on 2 September 2004.
The 2001 Census in Wales was conducted by the Registrar General for England and Wales under the statutory authority provided by the Census Act 1920. The General Report on the 2001 Census in Wales sets out how the 2001 Census was conducted in Wales, focusing on the arrangements which were particular to Wales, such as the provision of Welsh language census forms and the appointment of a Census Manager for Wales. It also notes that there are plans to introduce arrangements to enable the National Assembly for Wales to take a more formal role in deciding the form and content of future censuses in Wales.
The Report is available, in both English and Welsh, in pdf or HTML formats HERE. It will also form part of the General Report on the 2001 Census in England and Wales, which will be published as a printed volume in Autumn 2004.
