The Origin-Destination matrices for wards were released on 15 July 2004. The matrices have been produced jointly by the ONS, GROS and NISRA, the organisations responsible for censuses in the UK, and add further detail to the matrices for Output Areas released in May 2004. They show flows of migration and travel to work (or study for residents in Scotland) between individual wards throughout the UK. Matrices for local authorities, for postcode sectors (for residents of Scotland only) and for 'moving groups' will be released later in 2004.
More information on the Origin-Destination matrices, including links to the table layouts and advice on the statistical variability of the results, is available HERE.
A CD containing the results in CSV format is available, usually free of charge, from Census Customer Services. Recipients of the Origin-Destination matrices for Output Areas will be sent the ward matrices as standard.
