Microdata
Census microdata comprise information on individuals' responses to the UK Census. ONS has made available microdata samples of individual and household records from the 1991 and 2001 Censuses. The samples are anonymised, contain no identifiers and the data treated so as protect respondents' confidentiality.

The table finder is a spread sheet which contains descriptions of all standard 2001 Census tables for England and Wales. View a list of tables in table identifier order, or find a table by entering a topic of interest.

Commissioned output - copies available or commission more
If you do not find the figures you want in the standard output, check the regularly updated commissioned table finder (an 2.11MB Excel file) to see if they have already been specially prepared. These are generally more detailed tables for larger areas. Census Customer Services supply copies on request. Additional output may also be commissioned.
