Children living in workless working-age households, UK
• In spring 2006, 15 per cent of children living in working age households in the UK lived in households where no one was working, a fall from 19 per cent in spring 1992. (Figure 4.3) Latest information on lone parents in employment
• There were 30.6 million economically active people in the UK in the second quarter of 2006, an increase of 5.0 million since the second quarter of 1971, whereas the number of economically inactive people increased by 2.6 million to 17.5 million. (Figure 4.1)
