• Household spending on communications in the United Kingdom almost trebled in volume terms between 1991 and 2003. (Table 6.1)
• Between 1996 and 2003 the volume of UK total domestic expenditure on goods grew at twice the rate of expenditure on services, at 4.6 and 2.1 per cent per year respectively. (Figure 6.2)
