The experimental Corporate Services Price Index (CSPI) has been rebased to 2000=100. A survey of turnover (year 2000) by service product was undertaken to support the project. The methodology for deriving weights has been reviewed.
Furthermore, the overall sample size of the CSPI survey has been substantially increased, and a redeveloped index for business telecommunications and a new index for banking have been introduced. Top-level growth has been predominantly revised down for most of the series. The top-level CSPI is now published on a net sector output and gross sector output basis with growth generally higher on a net sector output basis. The experimental CSPI is under a continual programme of development and quality assurance.
