Regional and Sub-Regional Gross Fixed Capital Formation
Regional (NUTS1) and Sub-regional (NUTS2) estimates of Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) by industry for 1998 to 2000 are published by the ONS for the first time.
This article presents estimates of sub-regional (NUTS2) Gross Fixed Capital Formation (GFCF) at current purchasers' prices for 1995 to 2000 as first published in an Office for National Statistics (ONS) news release on 31 October 2003.
These estimates are consistent with the estimates of UK GFCF published in the 2002 edition of the UK National Accounts - The Blue Book.
The estimates show that: - London had the highest regional share of GFCF in 2000, at 18.5 per cent, compared to having a 18.9 per cent share of Gross Value Added.
- Inner London was the NUTS2 area that had the highest estimate of GFCF at £16.1 billion, whereas Highlands & Islands and Cornwall & the Isles of Scilly had the lowest at £1.0 billion each.
