Statistics Users' Forum.

The Statistics User Forum (SUF) was established on 1 December 2004 with Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) funding to ensure that there are appropriate mechanisms for consulting and taking into account the needs and views of the statistical user community. It has taken on many of the responsibilities of the former Statistics Users Council (SUC) and has worked closely with members of the Council to consolidate functions.

Its main objectives are to:

  • be proactive in identifying the issues of concern to the statistics user community
  • share expertise on issues of common interest
  • establish and support an appropriate and accessible user group structure
  • co-ordinate user community views
  • establish and maintain mechanisms to influence policymakers and producers of statistics
  • encourage synergy between the user groups
