The easiest way to view the area classifications is via a map.
The maps are available in interactive form, using Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG). To use these you will need the free Adobe SVG viewer. Users are advised to read our guidance notes on using these maps, in order to get the best use from this innovative facility. These notes are also available by clicking within the map page.
If you have svg viewer, choose a region from the interactive map.
Alternatively, the main maps are available as PDF files. There are 3 images, for the different level of area classification - Supergroup, Group or Subgroup.
Due to the size of wards it is often difficult to view them clearly at a national level, especially in cities. For better results zoom to your area of interest using one of the standard pdf zoom functions.
