IMPS - Communication with key stakeholders

For the Improving Migration and Population Statistics Project (IMPS) to be successful it is crucial to engage other government departments and other key stakeholders, particularly Local Authorities (LAs), as soon as possible.

The IMPS Project team will need to build on their links with relevant work areas. LA representatives on ONS Advisory Groups have recommended channels of communication which include using the Local Government Association (LGA) network mechanisms for communicating with researchers, planners and finance officers in LAs.

This will also involve publishing updates in the Local Authorities Research & Intelligence Association (LARIA) and British Urban & Regional Information Systems Association (BURISA) newsletters and attending various conferences such as the British Society for Population Studies (BSPS). It will also mean utilising the Central & Local Government Information Partnership (CLIP) group as well as other groups such as the Chief Planning Officers Association.

Other government departments will continue to be updated through the various advisory groups as well as through ONS' key accounts network.

In particular ONS will aim to work closely with the LAs selected for the case studies. It is hoped that these LAs will be selected and contacted in Autumn 2005

The IMPS research plan will be published here in Autumn 2005. Updates to the work programme will be provided through the IMPS newsletter, which will also be published on this site.
