Data collection
Labour market data are collected through a variety of sample surveys. Questions are asked by interviewers, or in postal or electronic questionnaires. The methods tend to be different between surveys of business and people. Data about people claiming welfare benefits are obtained as a by-product of the administrative process of paying benefits.
