Continuous Population Survey (CPS)

The Office for National Statistics is proposing to integrate its five major household surveys into one survey, the Continuous Population Survey (CPS). The surveys included for integration are:

  • the Labour Force Survey and associated boosts;
  • the Annual Population Survey;
  • the General Household Survey;
  • the Expenditure and Food Survey, and;
  • the National Statistics Omnibus Survey.

Decisions about the content, quality and outputs will be the product of comprehensive stakeholder consultation throughout the life of the CPS. This consultation paper sets out the proposed design for the CPS. Comments are invited on the proposal by Friday 15 October 2004.
