Annual Business Inquiry - SIC Descriptions and Information

The ABI covers selected parts of the Standard Industrial Classification (SIC). Data for 1995 - 2002 has been collected under SIC(92), data from 2003 has been collected under SIC(2003).

The list below shows only the industries covered in the ABI financial inquiry for all years. The links in this list allow you to access the SIC(92) detailed descriptions. See SIC(2003) for detailed descriptions and further information about SIC 2003.

M		Education (Excludes local authority and central government bodies)
N		Health and Social Work (Excludes all local authority and central government bodies in 8511/2, 8511/3, 8514, 8520, 8531/2 and 8532/2. The following classes and subclasses are also excluded from the financial variables: Public Sector Hospitals in NHS trusts (8511/1), medical and dental practices (8512 and 8513), Charitable Social Work activities with accommodation (8531/1) and without accommodation (8532/1).
