Section N total turnover has increased by 6.9 per cent from £23.03 billion in 2005 to £24.62 billion in 2006.
Within 85.3 (social work activities) total turnover has increased by 7.1 per cent from £10.32 billion in 2005 to £11.06 billion in 2006.
The employment variable within Section N is not on the same basis as the financial variables and therefore per head estimates should not be calculated for this Section. The financial variables exclude local authority and central government bodies in 8511/2, 8511/3, 8514, 8520, 8531/2 and 8532/2, as well as Public Sector Hospitals in NHS trusts (8511/1), medical and dental practices (8512 and 8513) and Charitable Social activities (8531/1 and 8532/1).
Section N approximate Gross Value Added (GVA) at basic prices has increased by 10.9 per cent from £14.96 billion in 2005 to £16.59 billion in 2006. The movement of GVA is shown in the following graph:
