ONS has produced ABI estimates for English Government Office Regions, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. The methodology used to calculate these estimates is consistent across the UK and the resulting estimates are constrained to the UK national estimates at the all-industry level; details of the regional methodology . This methodology produces estimates suitable for comparisons to be made between regions of the UK.
Regional capital expenditure data for years later than 2004 will not be available on the ABI website pages. It will be available on request. See Background information for additional information on regional estimates of capital expenditure.
The Scottish Executive publishes additional analyses for Scotland based on ABI estimates. These are available on the Scottish Executive Website.
Department of Enterprise, Trade and Investment Northern Ireland (DETI(NI)) estimates for Northern Ireland are available on DETI(NI) Website. These estimates will differ from ONS Northern Ireland estimates due to differences in the methodology. The DETI(NI) methodology, while broadly comparable with that of the UK, is designed to give the best Northern Ireland estimate rather than an estimate which is consistent with the rest of the UK. More information on a discontinuity between 2001 and 2002 data for Northern Ireland is available. Users who want to look at trends in results for Northern Ireland for 2001 to 2006 are advised to look at the Northern Ireland website.
