Division 52 total turnover (excluding VAT) has increased by 3.2 per cent from £278.43 billion in 2006 to £287.33 billion in 2007.
Within 52.1 (Retail sale in non-specialised stores) total turnover (excluding VAT) has increased by 3.4 per cent from £136.90 billion in 2006 to £141.51 billion in 2007. The number of businesses has increased by less than one per cent from 35,952 to 35,986 in the same period.
Division 52 approximate Gross Value Added (GVA) at basic prices has increased by 4.4 per cent from £63.60 billion in 2006 to £66.43 billion in 2007. The movement of GVA is shown in the following graph:
