Sections A-O total turnover, as covered by the Annual Business Inquiry, has increased by 6.0 per cent from £2,457.07 billion in 2005 to £2,604.72 billion in 2006.
The employment variable within Sections M and N is not on the same basis as the financial variables and therefore per head estimates should not be calculated for these Sections or the A-O and G-O totals. The financial variables exclude local authority and central government bodies in all of Section M and 8511/2, 8511/3, 8514, 8520, 8531/2 and 8532/2, as well as Public Sector Hospitals in NHS trusts (8511/1), medical and dental practices (8512 and 8513) and Charitable Social activities (8531/1 and 8532/1)
From 2000 ABI coverage was extended to include Division 02 of Section A (Forestry, Logging and Related Service Activities) and Division 05 in Section B (Fishing). From 2001 coverage of Section A was further extended to include Groups 01.4 (Agricultural and animal husbandry service activities, except veterinary activities; landscape gardening) and 0.15 (Hunting, trapping and game propagation including related service activities).
Sections A-O (excluding the property sector, SIC(2003)70) approximate Gross Value Added (GVA) at basic prices has increased by 5.0 per cent from £752.20 billion in 2005 to £789.49 billion in 2006. The movement of GVA is shown in the following graph:
