The LSC compiles the individualised learner record (ISR). Data are collected for all learners in post-16 learning funded by the LSC - that is, in further education, work-based learning and adult and community learning in England. Data are collected three times each year for further education and adult and community learning, and monthly for work-based learning . The data collected includes individual postcodes, and extends back to 1994-95 in the case of further education, 2001/02 for work-based learning and 2003/04 for adult and community learning.

Data are published three times each year, around four months after the relevant collection date.
