This page contains the latest geographical data on investment overseas by a UK company or investment in the UK by a foreign company.
Direct investment refers to investment that adds to, deducts from, or acquires a lasting interest in an enterprise operating in an economy other than that of the investor. The investor's purpose is to have an effective voice in the management of the enterprise. In order to do so, a direct or indirect holding of 10 per cent or more of the issued voting share capital needs to be held in the enterprise.
Key changes are being made to the current FDI questionnaire. The amended questionnaire will be used for the annual FDI questionnaire from April 2010.
