Cancer survival trends in England and Wales, 1971-1995: deprivation and NHS Region
Product
Presents survival trends since 1971 for almost 60 different cancers in adults and children in England and Wales. The analyses include 2.9 million cancer patients diagnosed during 1971-90 and followed up to the end of 1995.
Survival rates for each cancer are presented in a separate chapter. These contain crude and relative survival rates at one, five and ten years after diagnosis for men and women (or boys and girls) diagnosed in the NHS Regions of England and Wales. Survival rates are also given for each of five deprivation categories, using the Carstairs index. An international comparison of survival is also provided.
Detailed explanations are given of the data and of the methods used in the analysis.
